And I'm into the 2nd wk of my first full time job as an art teacher~

Just like how I was when I was still a part timer,
the tiredness usually overwhelms me only at the end of the day
coz the kids are so cute and funny
and i'm simply too busy teaching them to think abt anything else

But I feel so sad that I don't get to continue teaching my usual classes on Sat
even though the new kids i'm teaching now are also very nice
but i still miss my previous students~~~
not because they are the older students and they're sometimes easier to teach
而是毕竟有感情了what~

I was even more sad when one of my students, Nicholle, is not coming for classes anymore
The previous I overheard Nicholle saying that she loves "spicy" sweets
and has got to be "spicier" than mentos mint
so on Saturday I said my goodbye to her with "spicier" sweets
and she dugged out the medal she won today from a scrabble competition from her bag
2nd runner-up~ so happy for her~

she was also surprisingly in a good mood
she asked me "how to spell 'queen'?"
i wondered how come she dunno how to spell this word
and started spelling it out " q - u ..."
and she immediately said "orh-hor~~~"
so lame lorrrrrrrrr... lol

=[ hope the students i've taught before will rmb me even after they leave :P ]=

full time job

Life is full of plans and backup plans.

Glad that my life is still moving on according to my plans
and I've found myself a full time job that i like.
I really count myself very lucky that I found a job so smoothly
and that it pretty much meets all the requirements
I wanted for a full time job.

I'm gonna be an art teacher!!!
(okay... I am actually already one but as a part timer)
Love the environment, love the kids,
and am lucky to have easygoing colleagues.

I would say that I am still coping relatively well with the teaching so far
but remembering their names is such a huge challenge for me.
Coz I am just terrible at remembering faces and names.
But I am determined to remember their names nonetheless ^^

It was rather tough to make the decision to go for this job
as I was lucky (again) to have a few job opportunities
offered to me at almost the same point in time.
And I mean people (or maybe just me) can get a bit fickle minded
when you are given the chance to make choices :P

So I'm officially stepping into the working world
next month as a full timer!!!
Staying hopeful and optimistic~ ^^

=[ 27th Apr as part timer. 1st July as full timer ]=

Open day 2012

I was a bit hesitant about going down to school today for the Open Day's life drawing session, or rather the lazy part of me was acting up :P And I must say it was totally worth it.

We were told that the life drawing session is from 11am - 3pm so I reached at around 11.10am or so. By the time I reached, everything was already properly set up, the model is there and there were already a couple of people drawing. Many people were walking in and out of the studio and it is obvious that the turnout for this year is so much better than last year's.

I set up my little space with a donkey, drawing board and some A1 drawing paper. Then it was time to do small thumbnail drawings since every pose lasts only about 10 minutes or so. Unless it's a long pose then it would be worth it to draw on a larger scale and get more details into the drawing.

When I walked over to the trolley to get some charcoal, I saw two guys looking a bit lost while hovering over the different drawing mediums. Since I heard them conversing in Mandarin a moment ago, I thought I shall be nice and tell them that they can also get drawing paper from across the studio. Okay, I admit that I tend to be friendlier to people who are also Chinese. They thanked me and after a while they walked over to have a little chat with me (and they thought I'm from China coz of the way I speak XP) . It turns out that they are from China and are now in Perth with a working holiday visa. How cool is that?! I mean a working holiday is something that I had always wanted to go for~! But it turns out that they haven't found a job so far and if this situation remains, they will move into the city area and hope for the better. Even if they never manage to find any job before their visa ends, I think it will still be a memorable experience no matter what.

Later on, another Chinese girl approached me and asked me some questions about the life drawing session. Then she asked if I speak Mandarin. When I said yes, she heaved a big sigh of relief. Lol. We hit it off quite well and it was really fun chatting with her. It was also quite funny when I ganged up with her to tease her boyfriend (i think), who is now studying at UWA. Envious max~ coz UWA is so much prettier than Curtin. Haha. After a while, she left her drawings with me for safekeeping while she wanders around Curtin with her bf first. When she came back to collect her drawings, I got her email so that I can go look for her if I do successfully go to Hangzhou for further studies. Of course, it would be great if I could get her to get some info from her bf as well coz through our conversations, I realized that her bf is really familiar with the schools/ school system in China. ^^ It is quite a pity that she is going back to China in just a few days time coz like what she kept saying, it would be great if we met earlier then we could find time to hang out. Haha.

Near to the end of the life drawing session, my classmate from Friday's drawing class (also the one who is in charge of today's life drawing session) came over to have a chat with me. I think that's pretty much the longest chat I had with a Westerner classmate so far. And it was great. It is really amazing to have a rather serious conversation with another person who is also into art and share your thoughts about art. My classmate said I have a clear idea of what I want to draw and he said honesty and truthfulness is what I show. I really appreciate his feedback because it is impossible for one to see what his/her artworks appear to be in the eyes of other people. And through this conversation, I kind of have a clearer idea of what I want to achieve and what I like.

All in all, I think today is such an amazing day and just imagine how much I would have missed out if I decided to be lazy and not go to school. I must admit that the conversations and interactions with different people is something that I really lack all this while in Perth > < And today helped re-emphasize this fact in a way :P

On a side note, I just can't miss out on the FREE fairy floss (aka candy floss) and popcorn~ and as a result, I had to drive with one hand with the other holding on to the free stuff on the way home.. XP

=[ hey, it was still a very safe drive home~ :) ]=
