I finally bought my very first dslr!!!
Canon EOS Kiss X5~~~

Apparently Canon Singapore doesn't sell the 'Kiss' series,
so it's an imported camera from Japan (bought from Sim Lim Square)~~
Feels so exclusive.. lol

Following are some test shots:

Guess I have to play around with my new dslr more often to get used to it
coz I'm still a bit slow when it comes to adjusting the settings when in manual mode :P

was watching Renovators just now..
and i saw how Melissa from the green team break out into tears
because no one supported her idea of having yellow in the room...

then i recalled what happened on fri
when my teacher commented on my artwork being boring..
well.. i tried very hard to control my tears
but he just went on and on,
trying to make his words sound less harsh..
yea, then i cried...

reason 1: i was going through a rough patch for the past two weeks
reason 2: he wants abstract and i want realism,
and i know i won't be able to get through to him (experience from last sem)
result = absolute frustration
i just lost it and cried

thank gdness there's my family, monmons and frens
to help me analyze the situation...
so didn't take me long to get over it...

just boil down to the very same statement i told myself last sem
when i took drawing module from this teacher ==
"do what he wants to see and get my distinction"

total abstract it shall be for this sem...
after i graduate,
I SHALL DRAW WHATEVER I WANT TO DRAW~~~

in this photo is all the damage that was done to my wallet
for my trip to Carousal with hotel mates this morning :/

the whole shopping started with the hinge wallet
with kawaii Japanese doll prints that i got from the Reject shop..
thanks to Rahil who kept saying "buy buy buy"
but she herself didnt buy in the end ==
and socks just coz i need them for the freezing weather ><

then the excitement in me just burst out
when i saw the bag from Dotti!!!
totally the kind of bag i had wanted all along~
coz it's on sale, it's reduced to just $9.95 (original price - $49.95)
plus the belt that costs $2.95 (original price - $15.95)
how can i not buy~~~~ XP

final damage was the very much needed GPS...
walked to and fro JB Hi-fi and Dick Smith twice
coz i forgot the price :P
in the end settled for the one selling at Dick Smith coz it's cheaper
price stated was $159
but when the staff scanned it,
turns out that it costs just $99 and comes with a case!!!
how lucky can i get!!! :DDD

went to school again in the afternoon

to do my photo stencil~~~

tada~ the acetate sheet with the image

that i will transfer onto my screen...

going to switch on the light and leave the room~

waiting for my screen to dry under the HOT sun

after the photo washout stage...

tada~~~ did 3 printings..

only the one in the middle didnt turn out well :)

tested the bird cage on the 2nd stencil...

but the effect didnt turn out well :(

gonna ask lecturer on Monday..

applying for a plan with Optus can get really troublesome...

since im an international student,

they need hell lots of documents...

so i was missing out on my eVisa email and my bank statement...

left Carousel and headed back to hostel to get my eVisa...

then went to Park Centre but turns out they dont hve Optus there ==

headed to the Jacksons nearby to get my printmedia art kit stuff...

back to Carousel's Optus again to settle my phone...

cousin and i made at least 3-4 trips

from Optus to Bankwest and back...

coz the staff had issues with the bank statement the bank printed for me...

for the last time we walked out of Bankwest,

i was like that's it~ let's go to the other Optus outlet to try instead..

and it was done in 15min~!!!

so yes..

i finally got a iphone now..

if i get bored of it, i shall just pass it to my bro

when he comes over in June...

went to Jacksons around Dane St

with hostel mates ytd...

were quite lost as to which direction we shd be heading for

after we alighted at Victoria Park Bus Station...

so i asked an Australian uncle nearby...

turns out he wasnt too sure either

coz he lives in Fremantle.. lol

but he was very nice..

tried to figure out the map

and helped us to ask one of the random bus drivers...

so in the end..

we managed to find Jacksons Drawing Supplies...

the friendly staff was intro-ing to me what i shd be getting...

and at the same time wondering why my art school

didnt give me the list of things i shd be purchasing...

turns out that only year ones get that list...

since im going straight into year two,

i dont get that piece of paper :/

went to Park Centre for a bit of shopping...

then went for lunch...

and back to hostel...

went out again at 4+pm...

so i needed to go to the Bunnings near Carousel to get my drawing board...

(as recommended by the Jacksons's staff)

Rahil tagged along coz she needed to get some things at Carousel...

and the reason why im typing this part is coz

I WAS THE ONE WHO DROVE!!!

isnt that so cool!!!! lol~~~

cousin told me to drive so that she can eat her lunch in the car...

so fun so fun so fun.. wahahaha~~~~

going out on a river cruise later~

was actually not going coz my hostel mates didnt want to go...

then after 5min,

they called me out of my room and told me

"okay.. after an intense 5min of discussion...

we decided... that...

we shall go to the river cruise tmr!!!"

okay.. that's so lame... hahaha

hope we'll have lots of fun later~ ^^

i cant believe how blur and hostel mates and i are...
lol...

coz peng hoon always have so many visitors..
so we're used to having pple calling our hostel
or knocking on our hostel's door
looking for peng hoon...

so ytd...
after we had our dinner and were chatting at the dining table..
this guy came knocking on our door and looked for peng hoon...
so peng hoon went out to chat with him...

then while rahil, siti and i were playing "The Game of Life"...
peng hoon suddenly opened the door
for a ang moh guy to come in...

so the 3 of us just stared at that ang moh guy
while peng hoon was still chatting with her fren outside...
at first i thot he was here to fix peng hoon's internet
coz the only thing he said was "internet?"

took us a while before we realized he wanted to do
was to borrow one of our laptops
to access his bank account online and settle some stuff..
coz it's his first day in VH and he has no internet access yet...

so he left after doing his stuff on siti's laptop
and we all assumed he's probably one of peng hoon's friends
since she was also the one who opened the door...
when peng hoon finish chatting with her fren
and joined us back in the living rm...
we asked her
"was that ang moh your friend?"
"nope. i thot he was a friend of one of you girls."
"omg, we let a stranger in to our hostel just like tt!!!"
~LOL~

guess we really need to take more caution in future

went shopping at Westfield Carousel

with my hostel mates ytd...

took a bus down from the big bus stop near Curtin...

nth much for the bus ride...

their bus system is pretty similar to singapore's..

tap ur card when u board and alight...

and their stop button looks exactly the same as ours~

Westfield Carousel is hugeeee~

they've only got movie theatre on level 2...

and all the other shops and supermarkets

are widely spread out on level 1

on the way back,

while waiting for the bus,

encountered a bitchy fat woman who was with her bf... ==

lazy to mention what happened...

coz encountered another bitchy guy later in the day...

had kfc for lunch

coz i had a craving for it~ :P

so walked to kfc with peng hoon..

it actually isnt that far

but the weather is still as hot as ever

which made the walk seem very long...

and i still cant believe they dont hve 2pc meal here ==

had really late lunch so we went to spend time in common room...

then this grp of pple got kind of chased out of the music rm

but the office pple...

coz another grp of pple wanted to use it...

and among the grp of pple who got chased out

this short guy started playing guitar in the common area

where we were watching our tv!!!

and of coz we couldnt hear our tv at all~

so at one pt, one of my hostel mates asked me

"can you hear anything from the tv???"

and coz i was quite pek cek...

i answered her a bit loud

"no~~~ i cant hear a single thing!"

so that guitar guy quietened down a bit

before playing it loud again..

then when our show ended in another 15min time

and were walking out of the common rm...

that idiot strummed a few notes on his guitar that made no sense

and sung only a few words "bye bye~ go home~"

that didnt even matched the notes that he strung...

fail at cooking up lyrics...

fail at matching the notes that he strung..

okay, now i know there's a clown somewhere here... lol

didnt want to bother reacting to his stupid action...

coz my other hostel mates will still be staying here for quite some time...

so if i strain the relationship between us and tt grp real bad,

wont be too gd for my hostel mates...

or maybe it's just that guy who's the problem... oh well~

anw, it turns out that those grp of asians

with that clown in the common rm

wanted to hog the common rm and party among themselves...

so i wonder if anything happened to that non-Asian guy

who watched the tv after we left...

today marks my 8th day in Perth!!!

so fast la~~~

it feels like 11th feb was just 4-5 days ago~

getting along well with my hostel mates

and we're hoping there wont be new pple coming in

coz we're very comfortable with the way it is now :P

went for the info expo in sch today...

didnt manage to see the Singapore Connections booth...

guess i'll only be signing up

when i see their booth during the guild-o-day nxt wk...

after the 'This is Australia' talk during late afternoon,

decided that i shd figure out where SODA is

so that i wont be so lost nxt Monday...

took a big round just to go back to the same spot

where i started off..

just coz i wanted to see if i could take a shortcut.. ==

but no~ and it's all those narrow, quiet roads inside,

so i guess it's not too safe too...

then when i finally found my school,

i had to walk to the other side of the building

in order to get to the entrance ==

so conclusion is...

fastest and safest way to school from hostel

is still that long path along the carpark...

even so, it's like 10min walk away from my hostel...

so farrrrrrrrrr~~~~~ omgg~~~~~

luckily i dont hve any late classes...

otherwise it'd be so dangerous to go back to hostel alone :/

had wanted to spend time at common room after dinner...

but when the sofa seats were all taken up by pple

who weren't watching the tv that was switched on...

so my hostel mates and i borrowed 'taboo' from the office instead..

and we had lots of fun,

laughing non-stop...

still can't believe when my hostel mates said

"you go to the park for a ____ ?"

i actually answered them

"a swim???"

LOL!!!

and after our taboo game,

rahil and i simply couldnt stop laughing over the normal stuff...

i was brushing my teeth

when she asked me if i want to bath first...

and peng hoon who's in one of the bathrooms answered her "yes"..

it's not funny right?

but the two of us laughed till we couldnt say a single word... XP

gonna go shopping with hostel mates tmr!!!

will be our first time taking bus in Perth~~

Day 1 in Perth

daddy, mummy and bro were there to see me off this morning...

and also ah gu and ah teo...

and eunice, weihui, yilin, yuying,

enping, kaiting,

jialing, shujing...

i didnt cry!!!

okay.. i almost did when i were hugging them goodbye :(((

and coz i was trying to hold back my tears,

i somehow pouted even more... lol

was a pleasant flight on SIA...

and i saw Serena when I was waiting to alight the plane!!!

shocked~~~

collected my luggage...

walk out into the arrival hall...

waited for only 5min or so

and cousin reached to pick me up ^^

headed for hostel straight...

waited for some time before the brief induction...

a few hiccups happened during the induction...

then brought us to our respective house and rooms...

turns out that my temporary card was one of the two that didnt work...

so went out with cousin to shop for necessities first

while they settle the card problem...

before the shopping,

cousin treated me to dinner at Ciao Italia...

i ordered a simple carbonara...

and it actually tastes SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!

why the carbonara in Spore is so bleh??? lol~~~

and i tell you~

their serving is huge~ at least 3 times

the size of what you have in pastamania...

moving on to shopping~

it was soooo tiring~~~

coz we had to carry the stuff around..

carpark wasnt that near the supermarket...

so had to walk a bit far with all the stuff on our hands...

but it was a new and fun experience!!!

hahaha.. we were so busy comparing prices of products :P

and for me,

the happiest thing is that i've got 2 pillows~~ <3

which means one of the two is my stand-in bolster.. lol

back in hostel...

collected my temporary card from office...

confirmed the card can work

before unloading the shopping stuff from cousin's car...

then cousin helped me settle my phone pre-paid card,

school intranet cable and internet

while i was busy unpacking 4 bags of my belongings

and one overly expanded luggage.. LOL

okay.. i presume im tired enough now...

off to bed~

went to olio cafe at city square mall...

sth stupid happened at compass pt

before eunice and i headed for farrer park mrt station..

i wanted to top up my ez-link card

but didnt know i was inserting and removing the wrong card..

instead of my atm card,

i was using my cashcard!!!

so i thot there was a problem with tt machine

and went to the one beside it...

then i finally realized i was using the wrong card...

and i couldnt stop laughing at my blurness...

eunice didnt get what i was laughing at..

so i told her i mistook my cashcard for my atm card..

then the classic line came

"ya, i know that."

"u knew and u didn't tell me?!?!?!"

"i just thot i didn't know now you can top-up with cashcard as well~"

"LOLLLLLLL"

we laughed quite hard over that for quite a while...

after dinner at olio cafe,

we all walked around..

and ended our outing with gong cha treat from yilin~

wonder when will we be free to meet up again...

anyway...

my taiwan trip is happening in 9hrs 20min time!!!

from playing wii at Keith's house
on Sunday and yesterday...
rayman bunny is damn fun
but damn tiring as well~~~ lol

having eunice locked in the balcony with chubby
was hilarious...
coz eunice was damn scared of the two dogs,
especially chubby...
so she couldnt stop screaming
until we opened the balcony doors XD

for today~
met up with fmon and pmon~
i honestly didnt see them when i walked out of the station :/

had our lunch at pasta de waraku~ ^^
fmon and i finally had our salmon and salmon roe pasta!!!

the salmon and mushroom pizza is loves too~

then i saw this mother and her son walk in..
somehow found them familiar..
then i rmbered i saw them
when i was at the korean restaurant at KL..
my memory's getting better~ haha

今年，我表姐和堂姐懷孕了。

今年，我哭了好多，好累。

無法挽回的失去，讓人覺得好無助。

只希望帶著我們的愛去旅行的他們不會太孤單。

明年到柏斯念書。

目前沒有期待，因為今年我學會不去期待未發生的事。

只希望一切順利就好。

5 days trip in Vietnam ended so quickly~

a comfortable trip with no rushing at all ^^

i didnt know what to look forward to before going to Vietnam

yet fell in love with the country unknowingly...

兩次都哭了。

然後因為開心的回憶而笑了。

剛和朋友聊過。

他說我怎麼突然變得比較關心人似的。

可能是外公和朋友的離去

潛意識地改變了我。

或許改變並不大，

但確實有所影響。

每個離去的人會帶走愛他們的人的小部份一起走。

而愛他們的人的那個小缺口，

總會有人替他們補上。

失去了甚麼，總會得點甚麼。

OSEA 2010 is over~~~

bumped into Christine who worked with me at

Morgan Stanley's 9th AP Summit just last mth...

or rather she was walking around during her break on the 1st day

and spotted me at IHC's booth..

speaking of which,

today i also saw Shawn who worked at the AP Summit previously~~

today he came for the event as a visitor...

such coincidence... haha

got to know one of the Suntec staff, Kelvin (fake name!!! lol~)

often going around to ask for the exhibitors to settle their payments..

and i realized when Kelvin comes over to talk to us,

our big boss, Bastiaan, will always walk over to chat for a short while too..

maybe he thinks there's some payment he has to settle.. haha

got to know Chai Jia, who's working at the same booth as me,

whose first impression of me was super depressed

(well, my fren just passed away..

so, if i look depressed, i guess that's normal)

had a great time working at IHC Merwede's booth~

all of them are such friendly and nice pple!!!

most of them specially flew over from Holland for this event...

two Hollanders who live in Singapore...

and there's two of the staff who are from UK...

coz it was rather hard for Chai Jia and I to rmb their names

(and i believe it's vice versa.. haha)

the two of us decided to give them nicknames.. XP

hahaha... basically he always looks so happy.. lol

and after seeing him wear bright green and bright yellow tie

for the first two days,

we started guessing what tie color he would wear for the last two days...

but nah, we didnt get any correct guesses.. XP

Dearest Alex Tham Wai Leong,

Yesterday (28 November 2010), at 10+pm, when I first saw the message that your girlfriend posted on fb using your account, I thought it was one of the worst joke ever.

The message says:

We are all shocked at what happened. We are still waiting for the police to provide more details. He jumped.. The wake will be held at his void deck's multi-purpose hall from tomorrow till Thursday. (location of the wake). Turn right after exiting station, take the road under the mrt track & cross a pedestrian crossing to a purple block.

I then scrolled down to see another message posted earlier on in the day on your fb page:

Dear friends and acquaintances of Alex, this is his girlfriend (name). He passed away this morning. The funeral will be held from tomorrow till thursday. Details have not been finalized. Text or call me at (contact no.) if you wish to come. More importantly, please call me if you have had any conversation with him after he got enlisted. Thank you.

I refreshed your fb page over and over again. Hoping there will be a message posted soon that says it's just one of those silliest pranks ever. But no, as more people responded to the message and your girlfriend asking your friend for more details about what you were doing the night before, I knew I couldn't find any possible reason to lie to myself anymore. I started crying uncontrollably as I continued refreshing your fb page for no exact reason.

I had second thoughts about going to attend your wake or not for I know neither of your friends nor family. Thankfully there's Yilin who encouraged me and volunteered to accompany me to go to your wake. If I didn't go to your wake, I bet I'll regret for not going. And I think I needed to see your wake with my own eyes to believe it's true.

As we neared where your wake is held, I somehow find it hard to breathe and my pace slowed down. I started hoping once again that the face I see wouldn't be yours. But reality is something one can never run away from.

Your mother walked over to me and introduced herself to me. I held her shoulder and could barely finish saying "I'm so sorry" before I broke into tears that I failed to hold back. I hastily wiped away my tears as I feared that I'd sadden your parents further.

We then walked to the coffin where you laid in. Your eyes were closed tightly and your expression still seemed to tell your pain when you hit the floor. I know I shouldn't but I cried again. After offering two incense sticks to you, I sat down for a short chat, mostly filled with silence, with your parents. Yilin just sat together with us and listened.

Your mother gave me an account of what happened yesterday morning and the night before. I also learnt that she didn't catch a wink at all last night. Countless thoughts of what may be the reason leading to your suicide kept running through her mind but she could not come to any conclusion. The night before, you were still the same as usual, went for seafood dinner with your family and started playing your favorite DOTA after reaching home. Who'd know that this would happen the next day morning. Even though she understands that maybe it's just that your time is up, I believe she still needs time to face the fact that you have left this world. The same goes for your father.

Before Yilin and I left, I asked to go see you one last time. I stared long enough for your face to be etched in my memory before moving away. Then Yilin and I shook hands with your parents and I didn't know what else to say but for your parents to take care of themselves. Your father added that he believes you must be happy to have known friends like us (he doesn't know that Yilin doesnt know you). Once we were further away from where your wake is, I started crying again, then sobbing. It's just so hard to accept how sudden you're gone.

How could you leave just like that?! Did it not occur to you that your family and friends will grieve over your death? Especially your parents for you're the only child~ Where's all the positiveness you taught me? What exactly happened? What is it that you could not withstand and did not show nor tell any of us? You didn't leave behind any last words and when we last chatted, you were still the same, happy and positive as usual.

I recalled the last sms I received from you in June this year. After I sent you an sms wishing you happy birthday, your reply ended with "I will always rmb u". I felt that your last sentence in the sms was weird but didn't think much and sent you a reply containing the sentence "I will always rmb u too ^^". Now that something like this happened, I can't help but think to myself if I had probed into that sentence further then, would something like this still happen? Was that sms in any way linked to your suicide?

We'd known each other for 7 years. Honestly, I wouldn't even know that until you told me. I remember how we got to know each other from Hi5. I remember how you like making friends. I remember our short conversation on the phone and you were asked to hang up because you were having tuition at Mavis. I remember how we'd encourage each other to work hard for exams. I remember how you listened to me complain about my unpleasant encounters in poly and make the unpleasant encounters sound so funny. I remember how hard you'll mug for exams. I remember how you love playing games, namely DOTA. I remember how you chatted with me about what we're going to do after graduation from poly. I remember how positive and encouraging you always are. I remember how you've always been such a dear friend to me. I regret missing your phone call that Christmas. I regret not meeting you at McDonalds for a meal. Now, my memories of you are ending here with no more addition.

Do you remember there was once when you asked me what course would I choose to go in poly if I were given a chance to choose again? I'd love to ask you if you would do what you did yesterday morning if you were given a chance to choose again. But you won't be able to give me an answer. And we both know there's no second chance for both questions.

Your funeral will be held on Thursday morning but I won't be able to attend for I have to go for the events job from tomorrow to Friday. Honestly, I don't feel like going for the temp work at all but I can imagine how you'd not agree to it given your character. So I hope you will understand why I won't be there on Thursday morning to see you off on your last journey in this world.

From the view of Buddhism, it is believed that one who commits suicide will have to go through the same thing 7 times. I'm not sure if it is the first time for you this lifetime but I will ask for Buddha to forgive you for your action so that you will not have to go through this so many times.

Alex Tham Wai Leong, keep your promise that you will always remember me for I will keep my promise to you. For my next life, I still want you to be my friend. You owe me this friendship that you ended so abruptly.

the tiring 1 day briefing and 3 days work is over~~~
the briefing day was more of getting to know the place
and waiting for things to happen.. lol

got to know this girl called Christine during the briefing...
after we toured the place and went to the Garden suite,
we were then told there's a change in the arrangement
on who is supposed to be on which floor..
and Christine and I ended up working on the same floor!
such coincidence...
and there's also Shi Qi
whom the security guard loves.. XD

the $5k worth signage that we told the security guard abt..
and he replied telling us how cool his little mic is
and he uses it for communication... lol

pretty much the only view I see for all 3 days...

with positive attitude and soo friendly...
be it the staff or the temp staff~
even Chef Eric, the celebrity chef
who helped press the lift and greeted me so politely

for breakfast and lunch~ ^^

and there were different food booths on every level!!
except for the level 5 where i'm on
but it's okay coz we get bento sets.. hehehe XP

Yang lao shi came to the security post to bring us in...
so we went to the canteen for a chat...

Yang lao shi was the relief teacher for her class once
and she rmbered Yang lao shi coz she liked her class..
so sweet right..
when her recess time ended,
she kept waving to us as she ran to assemble with her classmates...

then Kaiting and I walked arnd with Yang lao shi..
we passed by Miss Siao's class too...

ate at Olio Cafe @ City Square Mall...

took a long time to decide on what we want to eat...
then started chit chatting...

been hving sooo much sushi these few days~!!!

last Sunday at Isetan's Scotts supermarket basement,

i had one flying fish roe sushi, one maguro sushi...

then when mummy and i stayed around the supermarket even longer

while waiting for bro to call us to pick him up,

the sushi was going for half price!!!

and i bought one box of rainbow maki sushi!!!

totally love the salmon and marugo sushi with avocado slices..

went out with monmons ytd...

went to Comex with bro last Sat...

reached at 11am only to know that

the public can only go in at 12pm ==

but it was a super fruitful trip!!!

headed for the Canon camera booth first...

didnt take us long to settle the purchase for Canon s95

coz we alr know what we want..

for the camera purchase,

it came along with a camera case, a mouse,

two 8GB memory cards and a cute doggie card reader~

den also paid another $70 for additional warranty...

cant really rmb the exact extended warranty duration..

think is two and a half yrs or sth??

and for that, was given a red colour Canon sun visor and a calculator

also bought Wacom Intuos 4 (professional pen tablet)!!!

but i'll only be installing it after i get a new laptop..

and my internship pay is not in yet ==

anyway, coz we made the payment via Nets...

we earned two chances for the spin-the-wheel prize thing...

won one $10 Mr Bean voucher

and one $10 shopping voucher ^^

so after i reached home

and charged the camera,

i was complaining that i can't find the mooncake my boss left for me..

my boss said it's in the fridge with my name on it

but i just couldnt find it..

so i strongly believed that someone ATE IT~~ :(((

and today i was also grumbling to chou chou abt it..

so today after lunch with chou chou

at compass pt, long john silvers..

went back to the office

and Susana reminded me to take the mooncake from the fridge...

she said it's in the big rectangular box...

a small one with my name on it...

so i tried my luck again after work...

and i found it!!!

okay.. or rather i did see it ytd in the fridge..

but it didnt occur to me that

my little mooncake could be in that huge box.. lol

as usual,
was listening to yes 933 on my iPod
while working today..

zhou chong qing and aiwei
were sharing funny incidents
that happened when taking public transport...

so zhou chong qing recalled this incident
when he was sleeping in the bus..
since he didnt want to lean on the dirty window,
he just tilted his head slightly forward and slept...
while he sleeping,
his head suddenly swung towards the window
and there was a really loud "bang"... LOL

and zhou chong qing said
he really wanted to scold vulgarities lor!! XD
i mean just imagine how painful that is.. hahahaha
but u know,
it's very malu for such thing to happen..
so all he could do was to act as if he was still sleeping
and bear with the pain.. XD

i was really trying soo hard to hold back my laughter...
coz i ever had similar incidents before too..

and the part when he said he had to act

this morning was one of the perfect mornings to sleep in

i had been excited about 20 Aug

since the day i knew that DL will be performing on that day

in Singapore as part of the YOG...

i was pretty worried at one pt that i'd have to miss

coz i might have to be at Perth by then...

but luckily i'm going to Perth only nxt yr.. hehehe

when it got nearer to the date...

there were discussions on fb saying stuff like tics are required...

so i emailed to ask YOG

and got to know that tics are not needed to attend the performance

but i can go to Samsung's fb page

to win tics for the limited priviledged seating...

it was a very diu lian contest...

had to video ourselves singing one of dl's songs and upload..

and i won!!! ^^

super duper happy~~~

so on 20th Aug...

i took half day leave...

after having dinner,

i dumped my 30kg heavy bag at the vvip seats

then walked around with Wanting...

this morning was one of those times i felt like dying...
yes.. dying..
i even told bro "pls let me die..."...
that's just how bad my cramp was...

all was well until breakfast...
then mum, bro and me headed to the temple...
today is the day to pay respect to grandpa...
some other relatives were already there
and the 3 of us went down to arrange the stuff first...

then the pain got worse
so i asked bro for the car keys
so that i can go back to the car to rest first...
but after i climbed the stairs up to lvl 1..
i felt giddy and nauseous...
and yes, i'm not pregnant...

sat down at the steps and called bro..
but he didnt pick up...
so called mum instead and told her to get bro to come up...
the pain was so bad i started crying..
bro quickly went to get the car and drove me back home...
he really drove at full speed.... o.o
i could feel all the swerves and high speed over the humps...

reached our block in no time
but i had no strength at all to walk...
so bro waited and waited...
when i finally said "okay, let's go let's go..."
he quickly grabbed my stuff
and brought me back home...

when walking pass the corridor...
my neighbor saw me
and just nice i lost the strength to walk

coz my olympus camera is fail ==
and i can't find the receipt for the camera...
which means the warranty card is invalid :/
gonna bring down to the repair centre...
then see if it's worth it to repair the camera...

previously i set my eyes upon Nikon Coolpix L110...
i just like the brand, Nikon
coz my SLR is Nikon too.. :P

see~ so pretty...
and i think the specs are not bad too~~~

so for lunch break with chou chou on tues,
went to BEST at Compass Pt to take a look at the camera..
and went down during ytd's lunch break again
to ask for more details abt the camera...

the staff at Best kind of gave me obvious hints
that i shd go for the other brands..
no doubt Nikon is an ideal choice for DSLRs..
but for compact cameras,
it seems that the other brands are better :P

bro's fren recommended Canon S95...

slimmer than Nikon Coolpix L110~~~
and i like the low light outstanding performance part...

these few days..
there's been quite a big hoo-ha over an article

happened to come across it when i was at the xinmsn website few days back...
and there were all the little details abt how rude & stuck-up that blogger was...
but it turned out that that article
was a whole list of wrong accusations....

the blogger clarified in his blog earlier on

when at work ytd...
i slacked a bit and went to my fb page to have a look...
and i saw that "Welcome the World"
just posted a question...
and the fastest 20 pple to send in the right answer
get to win a YOG souvenir...

the question was who was the first gold medal winner for YOG
(something like that)...
and they gave us a website where we can find the answer...
i only rmbered that the person was someone from Japan..
so i took my time to find the answer (Yuka Sato)
then emailed to submit my answer...

they replied me after 230pm..
and i won myself a YOG souvenir~~!!! :D
no idea what the souvenir is until i receive it though.. haha
they also posted a link on fb where we can see the fastest 20 winners...
so i went to take a look...

i was the 20th?!?!?!?!
lol~~~ i thot i was very fast already can...
ok fine.. i did take my time.. lol
looking forward to receiving the souvenir~~ ^^

but today everyone in the office was given one starfruit... lol
and when i was on the phone,
another staff gave me one more starfruit o.o
i wanted to tell her i already have one
but she turned and walked away so quickly :/
so ya... in the end i got two starfruits... hahaha

after lunch with chou chou,
back to office and made a few more calls...
charlie walked over and talk to susana and murni...
telling them to prepare to start the meeting...

then he asked me if i want to join this department meeting...
since i still had work on hand,
and thinking that the meeting will have nth to do with the work i'm doing,
i said "it's okay"...
then charlie said
"no, cannot be it's okay. have to be okay."
dots.. then still ask me for wat siah...
just tell me i hve to attend la~
speechless lor.. lols~

so it's designing stuff that i may have to help to do again...
plaques, t-shirt & logo for the carnival...
so see how it goes...

didn't really had a full meal at grandma house ytd night...

so i remembered the purple potato

that i bought when at Giant the other day with mummy~~

and requested for mummy to make me mash potato :P

after mummy sent bro back to camp and came back,

the potatoes were nicely steamed...

one purple potato

and one normal brown potato that we always see...

removed the skin and cut the potatoes into small pieces...

thot of the yummy potato we had at the korean restaurant at KLCC

and decided to try making that instead of mash potato...

didnt want to put the potatoes into the fridge

coz i was so hungry... XD

so just added a bit of mayonnaise and sprinkled some sesame seeds

not too bad....

just that i think the sesame seeds shd be more.. hahaha

ahh.. potato and potato is just loves~~~

potatoes = happy life... XD

but it was too filling for me to finish two whole potatoes for supper...

and the potato taste was getting a bit bored...

so... MORE mayonnaise!!!

the burger serving looked quite small...

after finishing our meal,

we went to BEST..

coz i wanted to take a look at Nikon Coolpix L110...

it's so so so pretty!!!

and i really like the specs...

and it's much smaller than i thot it'd be...

omg omg omg...

i'm so going to get that camera when i get my pay...

then chou chou had to go back to work already...

coz her lunch break is only 30min :(

and of coz i went back to work too...

called up near 200 companies...

my poor ears ><

and i felt like dying when i had to call NP EM..

and of all pple is that K person...

he seriously pissed me off again can!!!

i asked if we could hold a roadshow in NP...

then he asked at which part of NP..

and conversation as follow:

me: Convention Centre?

k: oh.. cannot.. convention centre is fully booked.

me: then maybe atrium?

k: uhm... i don't think you can hold it at the atrium

me: so what about the bus stop? near Cheers there?

k: oh.. normally students will set up booths there

me: so where else do you think we can hold our roadshow?

k: uhm.. or you can email to this person first *tells me an email add*

seriously la!

u asked me where i want to hold the roadshow..

after i listed out all the possible places in NP i could think of,

you tell me all cannot...

might as well not ask me and just give me the email right away...

another long list of companies to call up tmr...

sometimes i wish they wouldnt dump everything on me at one go...

i'm the only one working on this

phone calling, getting quotations, getting email contacts thing lo...
and sometimes there will be other stuff that i need to do too...

but on the bright side...

i'm near to a month into this job...

few days back,
i entered a contest held by Samsung
and won 2 backstage passes
and 2 VVIP tickets
to Zhang Dong Liang's YOG Live Band performance
@ Marina Bay ytd!!!

on Thursday,
i kept refreshing Samsung's fb page
wondering when they'll announce the winner...
but the result wasnt out even until i went out
and already came back from lunch :/

but anyway.. during lunch..
i saw chou chou!!!
so there's someone to pei me have lunch starting from nxt wk!!!
happy!!!

back in the office...
i gave up refreshing Samsung's fb page.. haha
then~~~ i received a call from them at 3+pm!!!
super happiness!!!
i was trying sooo hard to suppress myself
from speaking too excitedly
coz i was still in the office... hahaha XP
since i was giving one extra backstage tic,
i got jean to go with me...

so jean and i got super excited over it..
and started discussing what time to meet the following day...
what we shd buy for dl..
and what we shd bring along to let him sign... hehehe

before going home,
i applied for a half day leave for the following day ^^

and rushed to puggol mrt to borrow allie's camera
coz my camera is really cmi...
(thanks allie! i love ur camera so much! lol)
shd i get a new camera before i fly to Perth???

went home for lunch
and mummy said she'd send me to raffles place mrt station
coz i'm meeting jean there ^^
before that, mummy and i made a trip to Cat Socrates
to take a look at some stuff...
the stuff at Cat Socrates are just so lovely~~~
and i love the music they were playing~

was a bit late when i reached raffles place mrt station...
felt bad coz i kept pple waiting for me..
other than jean, there were also some other fans from NicSg...
fast walk to the performance area
and it was drizzling...
some other NicSg fans already reached...

i called up the Samsung staff to see if i could get the tics first
but he didnt pick up :(
after a while,
he called back saying he's still in the office..
so he'll call me when he reach...

the fans decided to go for dinner first...
meanwhile i went back to raffles place mrt station to pick up wanting...
then we had dinner at the same place where the other fans were,
Chopsticks - The Asian Kitchen...
i had the char siew noodles...
i wouldnt comment abt the noodles
but the char siew is super nice
and the char siew sauce is simply tantalizing~

back to the performance venue...
i called the Samsung staff again
and he told me to find the transparent tent
on the right side (if i'm facing the stage) of the stage...
but wanting and i happily went to get the balloon sculpturer
(his name is Aaron)
to make us customized balloon sculptures first.... haha
wanting asked for a cloud on a stick
while i asked for a bear and i requested to have my bear on a stick as well...
easier to carry around mah XD

while waiting for our balloon sculptures to be done..
the Samsung staff called me again...
and i seriously couldnt figure out what he's saying... lol
coz there was a performance going on at the stage
and it was really loud~~~
so i just randomly said "okay" at certain points of the call.. hahaha
i think he thot i couldnt find the tent or something.. hehe

when wanting and i reached the tent...
there were only a few pple inside...
and none of them look like a staff from Samsung to me...
so i had to call the guy again
then this guy back facing me turned around...
since we're the only two in the tent on the phone..
ya.. my tickets pls~~ lol
so he passed me the 2 VVIP tickets
and told me to return to the tent at 750pm or so
coz we're going to the backstage
for the meet and greet session at 8pm...

after that i left my bag at the two seats that jean
helped me to reserve...
then wanting and i wandered around...
and there's sth amazing... lol
we went to the marina bay outdoor gallery...
and after we came out and walked around a bit more..
it suddenly occurred to me that i dreamt of this place before...
the marina bay outdoor gallery building
appeared in my dream before some time back!!!
and even more amazingly,
i met dong liang in the very same dream at some backstage setting!!!
this is sooooo cool~~~
i was telling Chloe on MSN at night tt i shd hve more of such dreams
and have them coming true before i go to perth for my studies XD

wanting also told me the other time when zuno came to spore to perform
and junsu came to support him...
she had tickets to that showcase lah!!!!
omg-ness... but that time she didnt know i like junsu yet...
ahhhh~~ heartache~~~ ><

anyway.. back at the stage area...
enjoyed the performance put up by Alicia Pan..
then to the tent at 750pm~~~
a total of 7 of us were brought to a white tent at the back
with strong air-con blowing...
and we just waited with our gifts for dl and
the things we want him to sign on our hands...
was told this meet and greet session will only be 15min long..

so he finally appeared from behind the door..
and omg.. i was just lost for words~~~
(i think the others were just the same as me XD)
super duper happiness...
cant believe i would ever see him standing right infront of me this close!!!
ahhhhhhh... shuai~~~ XP

and everything just happened so fast~
we werent allowed to take photos inside...
so the official photographer helped us take a grp photo..
then we asked if we could get dl to sign stuff...
dl asked his manager and she said can only sign one item per person...
so i let him sign the "1st choice nicholas"
coz that's the only album i have that doesnt have his signature on it... :P
and passed him the book that jean and i bought for him ^^
then that's it..
the staff was rushing us to go out of the room already :(

back in the tent...
we were given quite a bit of dl's merchandise~ ^^
- "The Moment of Silence" CD w/ his autograph
- "The Moment of Silence" stickers
- plastic folders
- luggage tags
- notebook
soooo happy~~~ hahaha
i'm so going to use the luggage tags when i fly to perth~
or maybe not? shd keep them properly hor.. hahaha

then we also took photo with the Samsung staff
who passed us our vvip tics...
the other female Samsung staff who helped us take photo
jokingly said that male staff is like a celebrity
with so many of us taking photo with him.. lol
but that male staff is really quite shuai~~~ hahaha XP

returned to our seats infront of the stage....
and it wasn't long before dl appeared on stage
and before he started singing,
all of us prayed tgt that the rain will stop soon...
so sweet of him~~~ ^^

even though it was raining,
everyone was still so high!!!
waving our hands~
singing along loudly with him~
using allie's camera to zoom in all the way to take close shots of him...
omg~~~ dl is loves loves loves~~~

and i'm super happy that this time he sang quite a few songs
from his first album!!!
there was "寂寞边界”，“当你孤单你会想起谁”，“黄昏”
and the super high encore song "Only One"!!!
happiness to the max!!!!!!
dl was so chirpy when he was singing “男人不坏” too~~~

oh oh oh...
i forgot which part of the performance it was
but dl was moving towards the front edge of the stage while singing
when suddenly the bubble machine was activated
and countless bubbles suddenly blew out
from the machine from right below him....
he gave the shocked "ooh~~~" face and faster stepped back... lol
for another small part of that song,
dl stepped further back and further away from the bubbles.. hahaha
maybe he was scared that later some other machine gets activated too XD
come to think of it,
thank goodness it was just bubbles
and not anything like sparks :/

on the way home...
i was telling wanting my bag is heavy~~~
and we were guessing exactly how heavy my bag is...
i said maybe 6-7kg
and she said definitely around 10kg or so...
so once i reached home, i went to weigh my bag...
it freaking 30kg lah!!!!!
i must say this bag i just bought from hg mall is really sturdy~~~
and i conclude i'm fit for NS training XD

meeting allie on Monday night for dinner at compass point~~~
will bring my laptop along
so that i can grab the photos from her camera right away...
ahhhh.... Monday please come faster~~~

but when i tapped my card to enter...

the screen says "Card Expired"...

tried another two times and the same thing happened...

so i pressed the intercom for help..

and the only solution was to get the green Standard ticket...

i felt so dumb when the staff told me through the intercom

that i can purchase a green Standard ticket from the machine

before getting a new ez-link card when i reach compass point...

such a simple solution but it slipped off my mind

coz i was panicking over the possibility that i might be late for work

does ez-link have any service

to remind people that their ez-link card is expiring?

if not, i seriously think they should..

i mean imagine if i take a bus to work and not lrt..

my ez-link card has expired

and i don't have enough coins on me...

that's it~~~

waste money to take a taxi and still end up late for work...

and am abt ready to go Perth in early Feb :)

gonna start listing out the things i need to bring to Perth..
and of coz mustn't forget about the air tickets...
got to remember that Curtin shd be emailing me
about the hostel in Dec too...

starting to be excited about going to Perth again..

on the 3rd day at work...
the day before i went to KL...
i was tested on my photoshop skills ==

was told to design an e-card for hari raya...
then they'll see how i fare
and decide if my help is needed to do the rest of the e-cards...

back to work today...
the day started with the staff all swarming over on the window
to see the YOG torch relay going on right outside on level 1...
i just continued to nua at my seat
and browse for potential sponsors' contact details...
too early in the morning la...
no mood to be so hyper abt YOG torch relay...

filled in the contact details for the sponsors...
my email account is ready...
so am just waiting for the letter to be vetted before it's passed to me
then i can start emailing/ mailing the potential sponsors...
guess that'd be tmr...

so for the rest of the day,
i was working on the deepavali, xmas and cny e-cards...
coz they were rather happy with the e-card i did for hari raya ^^

designing those e-cards
sure makes my working time pass much faster...
how i wish i can just spend the rest of my working days
playing around with photoshop :P

dl is hving a live band performance on 20 Aug..
and i havent find someone to pei me go~~~ ><

Day 1 - 05/08/2010

took ktm train to KL with daddy and mummy...
love the view along the way~~~
when we reached KL Sentral,
uncle kong (dad's friend) came to fetch us to our hotel...

since our room wasnt ready yet,
we left our luggage at the counter
and headed to KLCC for dinner first with uncle kong...
uncle james joined us a bit later...
decided to have korean cuisine~~~
their food's really good!!!
only the lamb meat wasn't that nice...

after dinner...
uncle kong and uncle james left first..
then we went to shop at kinokuniya!!!
i honestly prefer the kinokuniya there to singapore's...
not that it's slightly cheaper...
but coz they got a larger variety of books...
(at least that's the case for me :P)

Day 2 - 06/ 08/ 2010

decided to join a half day tour...
nth much.. just look see look see...

love the architectural design at the national monument...

the driver had wanted to drop us off at times square...
but we requested to drop off at imbi for lunch :)
had our meal at a tze char stall...
finally had shrimp paste chicken that is of standard
(other than the one mummy cooks.. hehe)
their food's not bad..
just that the tofu and egg are a bit salty...

walked over to Times Square after lunch...
happened to have sales going on at Times Square..
and daddy bought a lot of clothes... lol
and our legs were really tired from walking..
Times Square is seriously huge.... *faint*

purchased a taxi ticket and took a taxi back to hotel...
and we got caught in a jam ==
guess wat... the taxi uncle fell asleep
from waiting for the traffic to move .. hahaha
so daddy started chatted with him to help keep him awake.

rested for a while back at the hotel..
then joined uncle wilson and his wife for dinner...
so they brought us to panorama restaurant for dinner...
we got there at around 830pm
and it was pretty empty...

the chicken chop i had was okay..
garlic bread and pizza are really good~
and the view there is fantastic~~~

when we left at 10+pm..
the carpark was packed~~~~~
i thot we already came at a rather late timing lo... lol

Day 3 - 07/08/2010

took the shuttle bus service provided by the hotel
and went to Chinatown~
met VJ, the driver for the half day city tour the day before
and he said we shdn't go coz most of the shops wont be opened...
but we decided to go have a look anyway....
nth much... just shopped a bit more.. XP

and we had lunch at Pelita!!!
the food's really good~~~
was a bit disappointed by the prata we had there for breakfast
before going to Chinatown...
but the nasi briyani and char kway teow we ordered for lunch
was totally satisfying.. hehehe

waited at the restaurant at the hotel lobby
for our bus trip back to spore at 330pm...
the bus is really on time...
and departs right on the dot...

reached spore at around 9+pm...
pretty fast compared to our train trip.. XP

and i'm so glad that bro came to fetch us at vivo city...
coz our luggage was really heavy~!!!
didnt expect to buy so many things.. hahaha
can't imagine how life is without a car.. lol..

second day at work...

finished looking for the general contacts
of the respective companies...
then started calling them after my lunch
to ask for the specific contact for sponsorship...

wanted to try the chicken rice near the MRT for lunch..
but the seats were all taken up..
so had LJS instead :/

anyway...
i was a bit taken aback when i called one of the companies
(shan't mention which company it is)
the staff who picked up the phone gave me the specific email address...
then she said they will look through the proposal
before deciding if they want to sponsor our event...
and she added "because we're now losing money."
i was stunned~~~
coz that company has been around for a long time
and is pretty established...
and it's really weird to be telling that
to some random stranger like me lo...

and i'm so envious of some other colleagues in the office~~~
when i went to the washroom
and passed by the recreational room..
saw 3 colleagues playing pool~~~
not like i can play pool very well
but still so envious la~~~ XP

and whenever i come back from lunch
and see pple playing basketball on level 4,
i would feel like playing basketball too~~~

tmr will have one colleague in the corporate department
(the department i'm in)
to brief me on how to go abt doing the e-cards etc. ...

and then...
i'll be going to KL from thurs to sat!!!
(i must rmb to buy newicon~~~ hehehe)
going to be a loooong weekend

first day of work at SANA~~~

supposed to start work at 9am..
den i received a last min sms that i can start work at 930am...
they were going to postpone the timing further
but i was already on the lrt... lol

after reaching SANA...
waited for another 40+min before the person reached...
brought me to my table
and showed me the desktop i was going to use...

i tell u~~~
the desktop is super lag!!!
he clicked on the "my computer" icon several times...
and it only managed to open abt 10min later
with several windows popping up at one go ==
luckily there was another acer laptop for me to use instead...
even though it's still a bit lag as compared to my apple laptop...
how i wish i can use my laptop for work~~
will be so much more efficient~~~ ><

went for lunch...
then to the popular to browse around
and strolled back to office...
so wonderful to be working near Compass Point...
hehehe ^^
think tmr i'll go to the library instead :P

continue looking for the contacts for potential sponsors...
then went for a short meeting
with the other pple in the same department as me...
actually only 4 pple in all, including me la.. hahaha
told me more abt my job scope...
on top of the sponsors thing,
i will be required to help with the designing of e-cards
and maybe a bit of writing...

overall, work's okay for today..
just that the music in the office was getting on my nerves...
like seriously...
it was the same unknown korean song on loop for almost the whole day...
and it's not even the full song..
it's a portion of the song only... ==
